Platform(s): Wii

Developer: Junction Point Studios

Publisher: Disney Interactive Studios

Release Date: September 16, 2010

What’s the Big Deal?: It’s a darker Mickey Mouse game that looks like to be the most interesting thing that is coming out of Disney Interactive since who knows when. It’s also probably the most interesting thing ever done with the Mickey character in a long time. With Warren Spector at the helm of this platformer (Developer of Deus Ex and Thief) and introducing an interesting painting mechanic that enables you to create and manipulate the world around you, Epic Mickey is set to be one of the biggest games of next year.

Developer: Camelot Software Planning

Publisher: Nintendo

Release Date: TBA 2010

What’s the Big Deal?: I still consider the Golden Sun games as some of the best RPG games ever made, with the series creating some of the best stories ever in JRPG history. For a long time us Golden Sun fans have been waiting and pleading for a sequel to Golden Sun: The Lost Age, with no success. Then suddenly Nintendo announced Golden Sun DS at their 2009 E3 press conference. It almost seemed too good to be true. With almost no details, we now wait for what we hope is a worthy game to the Golden Sun name.

What’s the Big Deal?: As someone who wishes to one day become a video game writer, Heavy Rain intrigues me to no end. For what seems like the next big step in video game narrative development, I’m worried that its own ambition will be its end. I played the game at PAX ’09, and was impressed with the visuals of the game, the great voice acting, and the impressive digital actors. But as soon as the game gave control to me I felt it became awkward and clunky to the point that it was hindering my experience rather than enhancing it. This adventure/quick time action game has a lot to prove, but I’m very interested in seeing how it turns out.

That’s right folks, this year has been a great year for video games and I’m ready to look back now with some End of Year Awards. You’ll find that stuff posted this week. Overall this is a pretty big week for Player 1 Only!

I’ll have my Video Game Awards kicking off this week, with winners being revealed all throughout the week. Not enough daily content for you? Don’t worry, while awarding the best games this year I’ll be sharing with you folks my Top 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2010, revealing two every day counting down to my most anticipated game of 2010. Still not happy?  Well no fear, I’ll be posting my First Impressions of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and also look out for reviews for Brutal Legend, Borderlands, and Assassin’s Creed 2. That should satisfy. Also look out for news articles throughout the week, if there’s any of course.

That should wrap that up.  Even though games are done coming out for now, I’m still playing loads! I’m working on Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, then moving on to Red Faction: Guerrilla, then moving on to The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and much more. With school finally over I got loads of time to catch up and loads of time to write. So stay tuned, lots of cool stuff is coming to the site!

Last time they teased us with part 1 of the Halo Legends episode “The Package”, but now it’s fully up on Halo Legends just for today! It’s mindless fun with neat little action bits, but ultimately not the memorable.

I know the VGA’s are starting here shortly, but give “The Package” a little look while you’re waiting for the Halo Reach premiere. And it’ll be gone tomorrow, so get your serving today before it’s gone!
